🚨 Kentucky’s New Look
The Kentucky Wildcats are back in the mix after securing some of the most talented transfers on the market. Following a surprising first year under Mark Pope, the Wildcats have retooled with one goal in mind: hanging banner No. 9 in Lexington.
🔁 Transfer Breakdown
Jaland Lowe – The 6’3″ Pitt transfer is expected to start at point guard. A crafty, shifty scorer who averaged 17 PPG and 5.5 APG last season, Lowe fits Pope’s system perfectly. With better spacing, expect his efficiency to rise.
Jayden Quaintance – The highest-profile addition may start the season sidelined. The 18-year-old shot-blocking phenom (9.4 PPG, 8 RPG, 2.6 BPG) is recovering from a foot injury. If healthy by March, he’s a game-changer.
Mouhamed Dioubate – Stolen from Alabama, the 6’7″ forward brings energy and SEC toughness.
Denzel Aberdeen – Coming off a title run with Florida, Aberdeen adds clutch experience to the backcourt.
Kam Williams – A 6’8″ sharpshooter from Tulane, Williams was one of the first to commit. He fits Pope’s floor-spacing system and could emerge as a second-unit spark.
🔁 Key Returners
🧨 Otega Oweh
Fan-favorite “Double 0” is back. After testing the draft waters, Oweh returns as Kentucky’s leader. He averaged 16.2 PPG, 5 RPG, and shot nearly 50% from the field. If he develops a consistent three-ball, he’s a no-brainer NBA pick.
🧱 Brandon Garrison
Garrison steps into a full-time starting role. At 6’10”, he’s working on handle and defensive versatility. If the jumper improves, he could land in the 2025 lottery.
🔥 Collin Chandler
After shaking off rust from a two-year mission, Chandler surged in March. He’s projected to be a deadly sixth man with flamethrower scoring upside.
🪓 Trent Noah
The Harlan Hammer returns. Known for hustle and shot-making, he’s added weight and muscle to fight for a bigger role. With his work ethic and fan-favorite status, Noah’s breakout potential is real.
🍼 Incoming Freshmen
Despite the portal craze, Kentucky landed a strong freshman class:
- Jasper Johnson (No. 25) – A D’Angelo Russell-type lefty with elite scoring polish.
- Malachi Moreno (No. 28) – A 7-footer with long-term upside.
- Braydon Hawthorne – Developmental wing with major upside.
- Andrija Jelavic – A 6’11” Serbian sniper with pro experience overseas. Could be a stretch big wildcard.
💬 “I understood the assignment. We are here to win banners.” – Coach Mark Pope
🚀 The Road Ahead
With a mix of veteran transfers, breakout returners, and blue-chip freshmen, the 2024–25 Wildcats are built for a deep March run. From Jaland Lowe’s playmaking to Quaintance’s rim protection, with Oweh, Chandler, and Garrison leading the charge — this team is fast, deep, and hungry.
Banner 9 is on the table.
